Literature Text
Swimming in an endless sea,
Living under the water so free,
Light above, Darkness below,
Where it started, no one knows.
Searching as I transcend,
Willing to comprehend,
What more could there be,
Other than the endless sea.
Is there another world above?
It's inhabitants able to love?
What would I give,
To find a way to live,
Out of the sea,
If only it could be.
I know not of that world,
Its stories untold,
beckoning me closer,
Like a song from it's composer.
Do I stay or do I swim?
Lose some scales and gain more skin?
Should I leave what I know behind,
And seek out a brighter sky?
Living under the water so free,
Light above, Darkness below,
Where it started, no one knows.
Searching as I transcend,
Willing to comprehend,
What more could there be,
Other than the endless sea.
Is there another world above?
It's inhabitants able to love?
What would I give,
To find a way to live,
Out of the sea,
If only it could be.

Lose some scales and gain more skin?
Should I leave what I know behind,
And seek out a brighter sky?

Mermaids
When she was five
she believed in mermaids
For 95% of the ocean
was undiscovered
So she went to school
and told her classmates
how she wanted to meet a mermaid
They laughed at her-
"Mermaids don't exist."
When she was ten
she watched those same kids
sit in wooden church pews
praying to God-
Proofless.
She laughed at them
for being hypocrites

Mermaid's Love
A mother and her young son lived together in a pretty big 4 bedroom 2.5 bath house. They had always been a good family unit up until the mother's husband died several years ago by a drunk driver running a red light. Since then the mother and son had struggled to keep the house and to keep themselves as a family unit. The mother, a highly successful Gynecologist, still depended on her husband's income to have more than enough income.
Now that he was gone it did make it hard for her to keep the housing and her son in good schools; a constant worry for her. Furthermore, her friends have been trying to

SIREN'S SONG
Passion pulls me under the waves, sweet
and strong, I crest these moonlit waters
as they lift me up, a song that captured
visions of this deep abyss I call my home,
I sing my madness in notes that spiral
outward from my halcyon throat, into the
silversapphire shimmer of a dream they float,
the Sea's sensual slide pulls me under again
as I sing of the beauty that eclipses my
pure heart, oh I dare not breathe through
my permeable eyes lest the Stars within drown.
I am haunted by a lifetime of loneliness
that gilds my voice, none can escape my
melodious lure-neither can I escape to the
shore of sanity when the Sea shimmers blue

I'm pretty proud of this one. I'd like to dedicate this poem to all those lovely mermaids out there.
